Need help to pass your drivng test with confidence?
I started having driving lessons at age 21. With my first part time job, I saved each week the price of a driving lesson, paid for my provsional licence then started studying the handbook each day on the 2 to 3 bus rides back and forth to work on cold dark mornings and et rainy late evening as a trainee mental health nurse.
I went through driving instructors who did nothing for my confidence, others who did, and those useless one's so numb and unencouraging, that they should never have given up driving buses.
I took my first test after 2 years, 1st March and should have passed. But one mistake on the test, failed me and knocked my driving confidence. I stopped taking lessons immediately, believing that I had wasted my money.
Some time later, I began trying new instructors. I went from one instructor to the next. Those who seemed content to drag out as much money as they could from the 'learning experience' without putting me in for my test or teaching me anything at all. I felt like their taxi driver, dropping the previous learner off, then driving to the next learners destination. I gave up.
Until one year, my New Year's resolution was to pass my driving test. I enrolled on a 2 week 'intensive course' in February only to find the instructor was holdng back on the 'last minute cancellations' that were available. From February to July - he strung me along to ooze out the payments. Finally, I had had enough. "Where and when is my test appointment" I demanded. He finally handed over a card. This 'International Driving School' from Bilston, were scamming me. He then proceeded to deliberately tut and criticise repeatedly in order to knock my confidence further. I took the test in July and failed.
I asked work colleages for a good instructor and moved to a female trainer. I then booked the next test, determined that I would pass. Fed up of catching taxi's to work on Sunday, late night buses in the rain, and walking over a mile in between bus stops on dark mornings and evening. Missing out, on going out. Frustrated with the 45 minute journey after a 14 hour day at work, when it was just a 10 minute drive home. Being stuck in a job because it was a convenient travelling distance and route.
I had to pass.
But I failed again, and again and again (and cried after the fifth test - because she told me the previous client had also failed). I realised how suggestible I had become. I recalled how I used visualisation to focus on my studies and exam nerves years before, and pull myself up from just scraping through to gaining distinctions.
So I visualised on my goal.
On Christmas Eve that year, I finally passed my driving test.
10 years after I had stated. More than 12 years since I had first set the intention.
